The
unexpected abounds: "ID MUBARIK." Eid-al-Adha,
one of Islams most sacred days, marks Abrahams
sacrifice of Ishmael, the Father of the Arab nation.
To establish centrality for Islam, Muslims believe
that it was Ishmael, not Isaac, whom God asked of
Abraham as sacrifice. The same greeting, in Urdu,
stares awkwardly at the passer-by as it does in
English from a bunker of the Border Security Force.
